Six months after surgery, I had severe pain, and difficulty breathing, I underwent another surgery to replace the first implant, because it had deflated.
During replacement surgery, 3 ribs underneath the implant were noted to be broken, and silicone had spread all over the chest wall.
The pressure of the implant had caused one rib bone to enter the implant wall, that was thin and fragile, this bone had to be cut from the implant.
Later pathology revealed a healthy rib bone, and no cancer. The chest cavity was examined by the surgeon, but the loose siicone gel could not be retrieved. It was assumed the gel had entered the blood stream through the scar tissue.
A few months after the explantation surgery, a blood test revealed that my IGG & IGM had increased to extremly high levels. Inflammatory thyroid desease left me menopausal at age 43. (Since female hormones are a function of the thyroid). I also began having severe sleep disorders, due to over activity of the immune system. I am also borderline MGUS (an auto-immune disease, that has caused multiple problems)
As you can see from the photos, I have a grossly disfigured chest cavity, a daily reminder of the pain and suffering I have undergone, due to cancer, but also because of the silicone breast implants, which have left me with a lifetime of diseases, and having to undergo, painful, and unnecessary surgeries.
To date my IG levels remain very high, even though I am
on immune suppressing drugs. I suffer from sleep disorders that require a
combination of medications. I also have acute thyroid disease, which requires
ongoing treatment, for the rest of my life.
